History

What eventually came to be known as CLAMS was initially called the 4 C’s, or Community College Cooperative Committee.  At a Fall meeting in 1968, the idea hit that the name should include Media Specialists as well as Librarians.  The purpose of creating CLAMS was to participate in the community college system, giving advice and making recommendations to the Instructional Commission.  This was a group effort, led by Steve Gerhardt, which brought about CLAMS, now College Librarians and Media Specialists.  Directors present included Steve Gerhardt of Shoreline, Frank Denton of North Seattle, Boyd Bolvin of Bellevue, Junius Morris of Highline and Orville Hanson of Green River.
